Frosty delivery: Cold and snow deliver challenges to mail carriers (The Ames Tribune)

Walking up to 10 miles per day can take its toll on mail carriers even in normal conditions. When temperatures hover around zero, however, and the accumulation of snow and ice turn their routes into glazed obstacle courses, carriers depend on their wits as well as their athletic endurance.
